June sucked.
The back story-
Jon started off the first week of the month at home from work on the couch complaining of stomach pain. Following doctor's orders he was not seeing any improvement and went in for a CT scan on 6th. He was immediately admitted into the hospital that night and had surgery Sunday morning (the 8th) removing all of the infected part of his lower intestine.
The good news-
Jon was not diagnosed with a chronic disease like we first feared. Now, (given this is already the end of June) he only has two short months left before full recovery and during that time he is free to return to work.
The gratitude-
Overwhelming, generous support of friends, family, and places of employment. Thank you.
The smile that lights up across Joe's face. The only thing to get me through sometimes.
The sense of humor my husband has through this whole ordeal. Keep up the high spirits sweetie, it's not too much longer.
The future-
Here's to a much brighter outlook for July.
The meantime-
Could somebody help Joseph find his golf clubs?
Things that make me happy:
-Scrapbooking with Gina
-Big Red gum
-Sharpies
-3 day weekends
-Trish having Baby Cydney soon
-Macie's laugh
-Nattie's angry face
-I haven't had a headache in at least a week
Things that make me sad:
-I haven't seen Mom or Dad in awhile
-Grandma Ida's scrapbook pages (these make me a happy/sad)
-Being sleepy
-Realizing the annual Florida vacay is still many months away
-Not having gone to the waterslides yet - Come on Natters, let's start cooperating for Mom and Dad
-Backaches
For some reason, if anyone out there is able to further explain my conversation with Nattie tonight I'm all ears.
Nattie: Daddy, Macie is sleeping, can I play with the beads please?
Me: Sure.
Nattie: Thanks da-da. I need to exercise them.
Me: You need to what?
Nattie then seperates the beads out into different groups. This is what the plate looked like when it was time for bed. I was informed that she was not finished yet but that she will take care of the rest of them tomorrow.
I'm still confused by the whole thing.
If you like the movie Bull Durham (i.e. the greatest sports movie ever), it's worth your time to check out this article even though it is merely good, not great. While reading, make sure to follow the red "not completely unheard of" link that is embedded towards the end of the article. It's pretty funny.
Also, if you get a chance take a look at AFI's recent top 10 sports movies list. Bull Durham finished 5th.
My top three (in order) are: Bull Durham, Caddyshack and Best in Show. I do have a soft spot though for others like Field of Dreams, Remember the Titans, Invincible, Hoosiers, For the Love of the Game, Miracle, Cinderella Man, A League of Their Own, The Natural, Unnecessary Roughness, Major League and (unfortunately) The Replacements. I probably missed a couple as well.
Yes I did watch Camp Rock.
Yes I enjoyed it.
Yes I had the songs stuck in my head all day.
Yes I understand that I am almost 27 years old.
Yes I did try to convince Brian and Gina to let me take Nattie to their concert. (By the way, they said "hell no." Which is rather rude in my opinion.)
Even Brian and Gina watched some of it with me. HA!
I outted you guys!!!! Muwahahahahahaha!!!!
This past weekend I went on a road trip with Chris to Aberdeen, South Dakota. I know what you are thinking, why in the world would we choose Aberdeen for a road trip. Well, Chris had a basketball coaching clinic at Northern State University hosted by Don Meyer that he really wanted to go to and he asked me if I would tag along. I tell you what, everyone I know should plan a trip to Aberdeen...ok not really, but I did manage to keep myself busy. Basically my time was spent seeing the sights of the town. Chris was in his conference more then 80% of the time so I was mostly on my own.
Here is me posing in front of our hotel. Yep, we went all out and stayed at the Super 8. This isn't just any Super 8 though...this is the very first Super 8! Wohoo!
On Friday, since it was georgous, I went to the beach. Yep, the beach. It was a little man-made pond with dirt. They say it's sand but it was a very sandy version of dirt if you ask me. It didn't matter to me anyway I was just looking to get a small tan.
Here is the first picture we've taking of just us in probably over a year.
I also managed to get in some shopping and I bought these super fun red wedges. Unfortunately, after wearing them around my hotel room and out to a movie Friday night I thought a couple of my toes died so I returned them on Saturday.
I also took a walk down the "main street" in town. What a cute area! Unfortunately like most small towns, main streets are becoming obsolete so a lot of the buildings were closed. My favorite shop was this little second hand consignment shop that had a combiniation of home decor and kids stuff. It was awesome, I wish we had something like this where I live.
Saturday Chris wrapped up his sessions and I went to art in the park which was just down the block from the college. The drive back was long but picking up Hailey and seeing her face made us feel better. Sunday we were both exhausted but yet Chris still managed to build Hailey a sandbox with the left over sand from our construction that we had been saving. I tell ya, the guy can't sit still!
And for those of you who are curious, it took us 5.5 - 6 hours to get from the southern twin cities to Aberdeen.
I can't remember, is it the early 90's or is it 2008...I forget.
This is scary because they are not new or kids anymore. Truth is they are middle aged and Donny was in a few tv shows where he played a DAD. Their recent song on the radio is about girls in the summer....um, ish. Does anyone else find this a little weird?
